This tribe is spread out throughout 365 islands in the Caribbean. PURPOSE: Learn about the unique lifestyle, traditions, language, and history of the Kuna Yala tribe in Panama. Discover and explore the “Guna” indigeous tribe and how they live along the eastern Caribbean coast in the picture-perfect San Blas Archipelago. Explore the biological diversity of animals and plant species that are found at the San Blas Archipelago. (ViTrip only) Visit a local secluded Kuna island community. (ViTrip only) Discover how they mostly live off of tourism while at the same time protecting their resources and land. Increase your cultural and geography awareness Gain tools to broaden your perspective in history, geography, and language Use your Spanish skills to interview and ask your host questions related to our discussion. OVERVIEW 5 Mins: Meet your Vamonos host and community leader; introduction to this experience and to G Maps. 25-30 Min: Live ViTrip or ViChat with community leader 5-10 mins: Q & A session APPROPRIATENESS: This workshop is appropriate for students ages 10 and up.
